Conflict of interest, human and animal rights, and informed consent

Conflicts of Interest / Competing Interests

To ensure global visibility and ethical publishing, all participants must disclose potential biases.

  • Authors: Must declare all funding, sponsorships, and relationships that could bias the study.

  • Reviewers: Must decline assignments if a conflict of interest exists.

  • Editors: Must recuse themselves from decisions where conflicts are present to maintain a double-blind system.

  • Scope: Includes financial interests, personal relationships, institutional affiliations, or competing research.

Authorship & Contributions Policy

IJIMS adheres to ICMJE Recommendations for authorship to maintain research integrity.

  • Criteria: Authors must contribute substantially to design, data collection, or analysis; draft/revise the work; and provide final approval.

  • Accountability: All authors must agree to be accountable for the accuracy of the work.

  • Acknowledgements: Contributors not meeting authorship criteria should be acknowledged.

  • Prohibitions: Plagiarism, ghostwriting, and guest authorship are strictly prohibited.

Human and Animal Rights

Research must comply with international ethical frameworks, including the Declaration of Helsinki.

  • Human Rights: All research involving humans requires prior Ethics Committee or IRB approval.

  • Privacy: Researchers must ensure confidentiality and protect the privacy of all participants.

  • Animal Rights: Research involving animals must follow humane treatment and comply with ethical guidelines.

  • The 3Rs: Studies should prioritize Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement to minimize pain and distress.

  • Oversight: Manuscripts must include formal ethics statements; editors may reject papers lacking compliance.

Informed Consent

  • Mandatory Requirement: Ethical clearance and informed consent are mandatory for all clinical studies.

  • Disclosure: Researchers must clearly explain the study’s purpose, risks, and confidentiality measures to participants.

  • Documentation: Written consent is required, following a structured abstract format for transparency.

  • Identifiable Information: Explicit consent is needed for publishing any identifiable participant data.

  • Verification: The editorial board ensures all manuscripts include proper ethical and consent documentation.
